Last weekend was my daughter Angie's 30th birthday as well as my mother's 80th birthday. I haven't baked a cake since I can't remember when but decided to try to tackle this one and make it into a 30/80 cake. It was my first attempt to use fondant and I thought it came out surprisingly well. Of course I had to have some help from Angie to get it done on time. Fondant definitely needs 2 people when you roll it this large to pick it up and cover the cake. I didn't trust my hand at making a straight line to outline my 3 for the 30 so I cut up gummy bears and lined them up as an outline. I don't advise it though since I heard my icing was chewy.
